While Thandi is still in the process of recruiting a black winemaker, we currently outsource this responsibility to winemaker Danie van Tonder at the company of wine peopleTM.
After obtaining a Diploma in Agriculture from Elsenburg in 1997, Danie worked in the Constantia area honing his viticulture skills and developing his passion for winemaking.
Danie worked in California for 18 months and also completed two harvests in the south of France before returning to South Africa and harvesting at Swartland Winery and Boschendal. He became an asset to the company of wine peopleTM in 2002, and is involved in producing many wines in the company’s portfolio, most notably Versus.
Danie ensures that Thandi wines lives up to its promise of producing premium quality wines. Therefore, as a consumer, in addition to getting excellent value, you can also enjoy a glass knowing that you’ve contributed to an important upliftment initiative.
